Innovation Through Competition

Emerson Climate Technologies has been driving innovation in the HVAC segment through The Emerson Cup.

Since its institution over six years ago, the Emerson Cup has promoted the development and adoption of exceptional energy efficient technologies and projects through its recognition of outstanding designs and innovations. The competition was instituted by Emerson Climate Technologies, a business segment of Emerson and a world leader in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions for residential, industrial and commercial applications.

The competition is one of the most influential in the industry and receives a large number of outstanding projects from all over India. Candidates are shortlisted after a rigorous selection process by an independent jury panel. The latest edition of the prize which was held in May 2014 involved a two stage application process to help increase the number of applications. In the first stage applicants must send in a 500 word design intent on his/her project. Once the jury’s preliminary selection has been made, the entrant needs to submit the complete application.

Last year’s jury comprised a distinguished panel of highly recognized and influential members in the field of energy efficiency, engineering, architecture and HVACR design. They included Deepa Sathiaram ( Executive Director, En3 Sustainability Solutions), D.Nirmal Ram (National President of ISHRAE HQ; Chairman – ISHRAE IAPD), Sharukh Mistry (Founder Partner, Mistry Architects), Prakash Chandra Lohia (Sr. Vice President -Projects Reliance Corporate IT Park Ltd.) and Rakesh Kumar (Technical Editor, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Journal).
