On a recent visit to Mumbai world-renowned architect from Japan, Tadao Ando highlighted the importance of conservation of natural resources, fostering the environment and how this reflects in his architectural designs. Mr Ando was speaking at the Godrej and Boyce auditorium in Vikhroli at a lecture that was hosted by Ms. Parmeshwar Godrej and was attended by several well-known personalities from Mumbai’s intellectual, creative, and business circuits.
Mr. Ando believes in creating habitats for not just a functional purpose but also a spiritual one. He is the only architect to have won the four most prestigious prizes in architecture: the Pritzker, Carlsberg, Praemium Imperiale and Kyoto Prize.
With a unique building aesthetic that makes use of the elements of nature, Ando has designed churches, museums, cultural spaces and apartment complexes all over the world. The Godrej Group and the legendary architect have strong synergies given their commitment to innovation, superior value and brighter living.
Speaking about his visit and lecture, Ms. Parmeshwar Godrej said, “Godrej Properties is delighted to have brought to Mumbai, one of the world’s leading architects, Tadao Ando. There is a lot of commonality between what Mr. Ando has done and what we are doing at Godrej Properties, in combining aesthetics and functionality in a way that makes good design accessible and meaningful for everyone who uses the space. I am especially happy that many architecture students attended the lecture today, as it was a chance for them to learn from and be inspired by the master himself.”
Pirojsha Godrej, MD and CEO of Godrej Properties is inspired by this legendery architects philosophy and designs that combines the best of tradition and modernism and yet at all times maintain a respect towards elements of nature.
What’s to be seen is if the Godrej’s are able to get the legendary architect to give India its first iconic Tadao Ando building!
